Healthy corn in farm country

Our Roots

What started as a question about the unseen life beneath our feet became a practical mission: help farmers grow stronger crops and get more value from every acre.

Since 2009Founded on a farmer-first question

One purposeMake biology useful on the farm

The work you cannot see can change the crop you harvest.

Soil is alive. Billions of tiny organisms help move nutrients, cycle organic matter and support the food chain. Direct Biologicals was founded on the belief that this hidden workforce could be turned into practical tools for farmers.

We did not start by trying to make biology sound complicated. We started with a familiar field problem: nutrients can be present in the soil and still remain unavailable to the crop.

Identify the right biology, then prove its value where it matters: in the field.

A nutrient was there. The crop just could not reach it.

Our first breakthrough focused on phosphorus in corn and soybean fields. Here is that original science in plain language.

  1. Phosphorus gets tied up

It can bind with soil minerals, including calcium and become hard for roots to use.

  2. Beneficial bacteria go to work

A selected bacterial strain helped release that bound phosphorus into a plant-available form.

  3. The crop gains access

The nutrient could move into the crop and the early field work produced a significant yield increase.

That result set our direction: solve a real farm problem, use the right biology and judge the work by what it does in the field.

Built in farm country. Focused on U.S. agriculture.

Since that first phosphorus project, our toolbox has grown to include many types of beneficial microorganisms—each selected for a practical job on American farms.

The science matters. Your outcome matters more.

Every product is designed with the farm's bottom line in mind. The goal is not to add another input just to add one—it is to match the right biology to the pressure holding your crop back.

More yield potential

Help the crop access resources already in the system and stay productive through the season.

Better crop quality

Support goals such as fuller reproductive development, stronger color and improved produce quality.

More resilience

Help crops face heat, drought, salt and other stress windows that can cut into performance.

Start with the problem in the field.

Our products are designed to boost agricultural production, enhance crop quality and improve plant resilience using beneficial microorganisms.
